An unmissable tradition, in September in the village of Ciggiano the festival of wine grapes and oil is held. This could easily be defined as the festival of good and wholesome tastes in this paradise-like corner of Tuscany. Among country, folklore and culinary traditions, the streets of Ciggiano fill with heady aromas which lead visitors to melt into the wholesomeness of the setting .
The remains of the outer walls of a castle are still visible in Ciggiano. This part of the Val di Chiana underwent much destruction in the first half of the 15th century at the hand of Niccolò Piccinino.
