On the Sunday following Easter, this fun and colourful festival is held at San Miniato in the province of Pisa to signal the arrival of spring and good weather. Hundreds of kites, carefully constructed by the local children during winter, take to the skies, making this a special occasion.
To make the atmosphere even more suggestive, there is an historic parade through the streets of San Miniato with locals dressed as notable characters in the history of the town.
