Rapolla is located at 450 meters elevation at the foot of Vulture mountain which is volcanic in origin, 1300 meters high, and surroundedby prehistoric settlements.Under Rapolla flows an invisible river, whose origin is unknown, but whose waters absorb precious salts and reach just the right temperature. There are three springs from which mineral sulphate-alkaline and saline-bicarbonated waters gush.The first thermal spa was started by a business man in 1961 who bet on the natural resource and won. Today the spa, which has been totally renewed, is a magnificent location that attracts tourism and jobs.Rapolla is just a few kilometres from Melfi, an historic town famous for its Constitutions, promulgated in 1231 by the great sovereign Frederick II. The town is also rich in monuments.
