Above all Recoaro is famous for its celebrated mineral water, that the locals called the miraculous water of Saint Anthony.At the beginning of the 18th century, Dr. Graziani, acknowledged the extraordinary composition and therapeutic possibilities of the waters. It was at this time that the “Serenissima” became guardian of the “miraculous” spring making the water accessible and free to all of the citizens of the Republic of Venice (Recoaro was under the Republic’s jurisdiction). It was then that Recoaro grew in size, wealth, well being and fame. It is a very enjoyable town whose beautiful Liberty style buildings and hotels are immersed in a lovely natural setting.And the water? The majority is bottled and exported but the rest is used for hydropine treatments, muds, baths and inhalations.
