In province of Florence, on the Chianti’s hills, rises Certaldo Alto, a small but charming medieval village, native land of G. Boccaccio. Here you can find and visit the house where the poet lived and wrote his most important poetry “IL DECAMERONE”, the church with the tomb and Palazzo Pretorio, centre of Vicariate that under Medici of Florence rule, kept the control all over the Val d’ Elsa territory. In this beautiful place, in a rare example of medieval village still untouched, it’s possible to spend an unforgettable holiday. In Via Boccaccio, in a building of red brick, that dates back to the 1200, at only few metres from Palazzo Pretorio, it is based the holidays house “Il Vecchio Forno”, old centre of the oven of Certaldo alto. From that building, after a restructure, came out a pretty habitation,  with style furniture and a wonder garden. This village is connected from two road and from one funicular, that in few minutes reach the centre of Certaldo basso, near the rail station, well connected at the most cultural cities of Tuscan: Firenze, Siena, Pisa, S. Gimignano and Volterra. During the summer, in the old village are played different cultural and musical activities, in July, there is the famous international review of the street theatre “Mercantia”.
